Our Purpose

Trinity Church a diverse Christian community united in love, promoting justice for all, seeking peace, and building community.

Trinity practices open communion as part of the United Church of Christ (UCC). That means everyone is welcome at the table.

Trinity Church offers a safe space to explore spirituality and life. All are welcome, no matter your religious background, age, gender identity, sexuality, or politics.

We are in the family of the Michigan Conference of the UCC and a member of the Conference’s United Northern Association.

Trinity Church is a popular meeting place for community groups including the Girl Scouts, Northport Lions Club, Northport Women’s Club, and the Community Senior Lunch.

We host an annual strawberry social, the Belko Peace Lecture, art exhibits, Rag Bee, yoga classes, special musical concerts, book studies, a grief support group, a sewing circle, and other events throughout the year.

Trinity's Open and Affirming Covenant

In the spirit of God’s unconditional love, we, the congregation of Trinity United Church of Christ of Northport, welcome all who enter these doors seeking a place to grow in faith. We affirm the dignity and worth of every person as created in the image of God. We follow the words of the prophet Micah, and commit to do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with God (Micah 6:8).

Thus in humility before God, we extend kindness and hospitality to people of every race, ethnicity, nationality, faith background, class, age, gender, marital status, physical and mental ability, and sexual orientation. We welcome into full membership, fellowship, and leadership all who come here to worship God and share their talents, as we work for peace, justice, and human rights in this community and in the world.

As an Open and Affirming [ONA] church, we seek unity rather than unanimity, knowing that we can all learn from the full range of each other’s opinions, experiences, and beliefs.  We seek mutual understanding and mutual respect, that we might fully celebrate the diversity in which God has created us.
